Peacock In A Window

I've shared this peacock before but never in a card.  This was my 4th time coloring him, yet only my first card.  I'm pretty happy with my first card!  I knew I wanted to 'frame' the peacock somehow, but wasn't quite sure how I was going to do that.  I colored him and then worked on the card.  I thought about using framelits on him, but that would cut off most of his tail, and let's face it, that's a beautiful tail!  I wanted the peacock fully, but in a frame....sometimes it's difficult to satisfy me.
By some stroke of genius, or perhaps divine intervention, I packed some window sheets with me.  So I stamped the peacock (in Staz on) on the window sheet, lined him up and made a window in my card.  The peacock would be fully in tact on the inside but still in a window.  AHHHHH, success!!  I framed the window with some of my glimmer mixture (remember it's Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds.  So sparkly!!!!
I did have to trim the tiniest bit off his tail, but I love that it hangs all the way to the bottom!!!!  The peacock is cut out and adhered with dimensionals.  So he ended up with a beautiful shadow behind him.
If you're in love with the Blendabilities like I am, don't miss tomorrow's post.  There's a big announcement in there, one you'll probably be really happy to hear!!!  I know I am!!!  The colors of Blendabilities I used for the peacock are: Old Olive, Coastal Cabana, Rich Razzleberry, Skin Tones and Daffodil Delight (for his beak).

It's Time!!

I'm not sure what it's time for, I'm sure it's time for something!  This card doesn't have a greeting, I wasn't sure what to put on this card....ideas anyone??  But I saw this card on Pintrest and it's so cute, so simple and I knew I HAD to make it!!!  So cute!!  This card is really simple actually.  The clock is two of the circle framelits, two of the larger ones, I'm not entirely sure which ones exactly, but that part doesn't matter much, you can make your clock as big or as little as you want!  The arrows are from the new punch that looks like a little house, the What's Up Punch.  I know it's not meant to be a house but when I first saw it in the catalog, I immediately
thought HOUSE!!!  It could be used for either an arrow or an house :)  For the clock I used the smaller arrow in that punch and cut off the feathery ends.
The bell part of the clock (I really don't know what that's called, I'm sure it has a name), that's a circle punch cut in half, couldn't be easier.  Which circle will depend on how big your clock is.  The spring scrapbooking weekend I was more together with everything, and wrote on a post it, sizes of punches, framelits etc.  I didn't do that this time, it will be far more challenging for me to figure all this out after they're made.......note to self.....WRITE IT DOWN!!!!  Finally the feet of the clock are just the Word Window Punch.  So so so so cute!!!  Oh and really quick the DSP is new DSP from the BEAUTIFUL Sweet Taffy package.  LOVE!!!

Rainbow Butterflies

A Saturday Post?????  Yes!  Until we get through all the projects I made at the Scrapbooking Weekend I will be posting every day, even weekends!!  Now that I've shared my 'big projects' from the weekend, it's time to dive into the cards....there's a LOT of them!  Deciding what order to put them in is going to be challenging, though I don't assume that matters too much.  Before we get into the cards, let me say that I believe that most of my cards from the weekend (not all of them) were CASED from other cards that I've seen.  I'm excellent at looking at a card, especially punch art and breaking it down and making it my own. I love doing that!!  Sometimes, lightning does strike and I have an original idea but a lot of the time I'm being inspired by others.  I will try to link back to the original sites that I saw these ideas on.  I believe that if you're going to CASE something you should give credit where it's due.  I do make every attempt to do that.  Sometimes though, I fail and I don't pin that card that I thought I did, etc.  but I do try :)  So in the next 10 days or so when you're looking at all these cards, please know that I've been inspired by others!!  In the same spirit I hope that this blog does the same thing.  I hope that you see something here, that it sparks your creativity, and you share it!  Ok onto this card!
I'm a sucker for rainbow cards.  I love them, I think they're beautiful and I think SU has some of the best colors to make these rainbow effect cards.  Our brights collection has the full spectrum, I LOVE IT!!!  This is the card that inspired this one.  I love the hearts on the original but I'm also a huge fan of butterflies!!!  I did sooooo much sponging, not only on this card but on all of my cards and projects.  By the end of the weekend.  I had ink under my nails, and stained onto my hands :)  It's all good though, just a sign of a good crafty weekend!!  There's no big secrets on this card.  I used the Gorgeous Grunge set and the Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly Punches.  I finished the butterflies with a small white circle and the coordinating Candy Dots, which reminds me I need to order more.......on the list it goes!  As I share the rest of my cards over the next couple of weeks please comment and let me know what you love, what maybe you don't love.
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!!

Pixar Meets Logan

Since I did Megan's name for her room (check out yesterday's post), I naturally had to do Logan too.  Of course Logan wouldn't want Frozen characters, in fact he probably wouldn't want glitter at all.  I decided to do a variety of characters him from a few movies.  So we went with Pixar movies.  We have Toy Story (1, 2 and 3), Finding Nemo and Monster's Inc. (and Monster's University).  I did these characters after the Frozen ones, I was worried these would be more challenging.  I was wrong!  I think the one that took the longest was Woody, there's simply more layers (if you count drying time it would be Buzz though).  They came out so cute I love them!!!
If you're a breathing person you know who the first two are.  Woody and Buzz are probably some of the most famous Pixar character EVER!  So the pressure was on to get them right!  I love them though.  Woody is done in Pacific Point, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White and Real Red.  Everything is sponged in the coordinating color.  The stripes on his shirt are just drawn on with a marker.  So stinkin' CUTE!!!
Buzz is super cute too, he was the character I was most worried about.  Somehow he ended up being so simple!  I used Whisper White, Basic Black, Wild Wasabi and Elegant Eggplant.  The buttons are in Pacific Point, Old Olive, Real Read and Daffodil Delight.  I put some Crystal Effects over each button to give it that 'glossy' look.
Nemo was the first one I did.  The G in Megan's name really had me stumped so I wanted to get the hardest letter out of the way first.  Nemo was a great choice for the G  The stripes were easy to do and they go so well on this letter.  I just drew what I wanted the stripes to look like and then cut them out.  The colors for this letter are Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black and Whisper White.  All sponged in Pumpkin Pie.
The A is clearly Mike Wasoski from the Monsters movies.  He was super simple!!!  I covered him in Wild Wasabi, sponged in Wild Wasabi and added an eye.  That's it!!!!!  I used Whisper White, Basic Black and Tempting Turquoise for his eye.  FUN!!!!
Finally Sully from the Monsters movies.  He was pretty simple too, and quick.  The N is covered in Tempting Turquoise and sponged in the same color.  The spots are Perfect Plum, sponged in the coordinating color.  Finally some Whisper White horns to complete him.  These letters, along with Megan's are so much fun!!!  I just have to figure out how I'll hang them on the wall.......
Finally, Megan had a crown, Logan gets a star.  I did add just a little of my glitter mixture (Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds) around the edge of the star.  Then I cut out another star and popped it up on dimensionals.  I then covered that star with Crystal Effects, no glitter, just Crystal Effects.  It gives a wonderful glossy look.  I have so so so so much more to share, check back everyday next week!!!
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!!

Frozen Megan

Do you have a child?  Is that child a 3 year old girl?  Is that 3 year old girl obsessed with Frozen?  I do!  Every time we get in the car, the first words out of Megan's mouth are, "can we listen to Frozen?" Although lately it's been, "can you put on Frozen number 4" (or whatever number she chooses that day.  This was the first project I started on.  I found these letters at a big box craft store.  They're chip board letters.  I turned each letter into a different Frozen character.  The letters are all done the same.  I traced them onto the cardstock I wanted to use, cut it out and adhered it with Tombow.  Really that's it!  Now if you haven't watched Frozen yet (you're in the minority here) then you might want to skip over this post.  If you have seen Frozen, or live and breath it like I do, then you might want to keep scrolling.
The M is Sven, the reindeer. The bottom half is Crumb Cake, the top is Very Vanilla.  All of it is sponged in Crumb Cake ink.  The Vanilla piece was cut randomly to resemble Sven's fur.  I added a Real Red harness and Crushed Curry dots.  I added a star medal (I know in the movie it's neither a star or gold, but I think that's a minor issue).
The E is, who else Elsa!  There's so much sparkle on this letter it makes my heart happy.  I knew packing that I was going to need to create the sparkle somehow.  I wasn't quite sure how I was going to do it.  I took a few options.  Fortunately for me, the first thing I tried worked wonderfully.  I mixed Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Don't ask me how much of each, I don't know.  I made this mixture many times over the weekend and each time is was a glob of Crystal Effects and some glitter :)  Once the mixture was made I just used a paint brush to brush it onto whatever I needed to add glitter too.  You'll see this mixture a lot over the next week or so.  I loved the look of it I was adding glitter to EVERYTHING!!!  Elsa is wearing a cape, Vellum brushed with the glitter.  Her skin is White cardstock that I colored using the skin tones Blendabilities. Her braid is Very Vanilla sponged lightly with Smoky Slate.  I love this letter :)
The G was my most challenging letter.  I really struggled to get Olaf's pieces in the right place.  In the end I'm super satisfied.  Carmelita (sitting next to me, who also happens to live with a small obsessed little girl) suggested that his pieces be 'scattered' around since there's many moments in the movie where he's not always 'put together'.  He is cute though :)
The A is Anna.  She was the first one that I did.  You'll notice if you look really close that I colored the sides of her letter with black.  I'll do that to all of them, my plan was to do them all there but that was far to time consuming.  That will be done prior to hanging them in Megan's room.  Her cape is Rich Razzleberry, and her dress is Black, Crushed Curry and Pacific Point.  She's really sweet too.
Finally the N.  The N is Kristoff.  He was probably the easiest.  His lines are straight (though in the movie his clothes are a little different, but that's ok.  I'm still happy with it.  I used Black, Real Red, Smoky Slate, White and Crumb Cake.
Finally the crown that goes with it all.  I covered the entire thing in Crushed Curry Cardstock then added a ton of glitter.  The snowflake is done the same way but in Coastal Cabana Cardstock to match Elsa's dress.  So so so pretty and sparkly!!!!

Camp Crop A Lot

I spent last weekend at the best summer camp around, Camp Crop A Lot!!  We camped in a Marriott that had a Starbucks in the lobby.  THAT. IS. MY. KIND. OF. CAMPING!  I've mentioned before but it's worth saying again, my downline Michelle organizes these scrapbook weekends.  She does a phenomenal job!!  And word is getting out about the best scrap booking retreat ever, this one had more people than the the other two I've attended.  Our camp sites opened at 3pm on Friday, I was there by 2:45pm (maybe a few minutes earlier).  I wasn't going to miss a second of camping!
Our sites are set up in the ballrooms of the hotel.  We each get an entire table to ourselves.  They're big tables too!  I had plenty of room!  My campsite was #2 on the left side.  I was surrounded by all my wonderful downline and sidelines and friends from Stampin' Up!  We had so much fun!!!
Here's what my campsite looked like when I arrived.  We get a sheet a grid paper, a notepad to track our purchases for meals (Michelle's orders out and pays for it all, we keep track and pay her back at the end of the weekend).  An adorable cup, which came in handy, you can really work up a thirst camping!  Then the large, metal trashcan.  I love it.  It's under my desk right now!
Michelle also leaves an agenda for us for the weekend.  So cute!!!  We had lots of make and takes, and lots of door prize drawings!  We even went fishing (with gummy worms) and hiking (to the lobby), and we had a pajama party under the stars on Saturday night.  The little camper is the cutest thing!!  She cut that out with her Cricut, she also carved a camper with our Undefined Kit, she stamped it on the bottom of the notepad in the picture above.

This was my campsite after I set up.  It's nice and clean isn't it!  I did rearrange it a little when I sat down, I realized I was going to need more stuff in closer arms reach than I originally placed it.  By the end of the weekend it wasn't nearly this clean and organized!
Michelle brings every punch, every die, every embossing folder she owns for us to use.  It cuts down on what we have to pack (especially me, I use the punches like a crazy woman!).  She has every punch you could image and every die and embossing folder you can image!!  Plus 2 Big Shots and the Boutique Embossing Machine.
This is the room from the very far end where I was.  Nichole's table is the first one, I'm just to the left of Nichole, you can see my blue bag on the table.  Lot's of people, wonderful people.  Tons of creative energy going on!  Most people were scrap booking, I had intentions to scrapbook, but the one time I pulled out my laptop to do some MDS, I just wasn't feeling it. What I did create is pretty amazing, guess I just have to find time to MDS at home!
For our Under The Stars Pajama Party on Saturday night we all got to carve our own stamps!  I was blown away by the amazing art everyone did!!  Check it out!!!  If you haven't tried the undefined kit, you need to!!  I did a turtle and wrote under it "I turtley love you" (an idea I saw on pintrest).
Thank goodness I brought this power strip, every single plug was used the entire weekend.  We had laptops, silhouettes, chargers, heat tools and who knows what else plugged in at any time :)  This was toward the end of the weekend.  Can you see the crafting chaos going on all around the power strip :)  There's a small shot of one of my favorite projects in of the weekend in this picture, can you find it.......?
I got home Sunday afternoon, to a very happy husband and kids glued to Frozen on the TV.  They didn't even say hello to me until it was over :/ I spent Monday morning unpacking and taking pictures of my many creations.  Here's all the stuff that Michelle's gave us through out the weekend.  I hope I got everything here.  I was putting stuff away and half of it was put away before I realized I needed a picture of everything, I hope I pulled it all back out!  We got so much stuff though, Michelle is amazing!!  I think the thing I'm most excited about it the Project Life card kit, we got the Everyday Adventures one.  You know I don't scrapbook on paper but I'm excited to work with the cards in other ways!  For right now the box and the journaling pens that she gave us are in my kitchen.  The cards are the perfect size for me to stick notes in lunchboxes, or to start a quick shopping list, jot down a recipe, etc.  It's not the intended use for the cards but it working for me!  Thanks so much Michelle for all your hard work!!!  She is truly amazing!!!  I can't wait until the next one, in November I'm already signed up!!!!  You can check out Michelle's blog here.  I have A LOT of projects to share.  I'll just be doing one, maybe 2 a day until we're done, keep checking back you don't want to miss any of them!!!
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!!

Birthday Butterflies

I know you're probably anxiously awaiting all the news from Camp Crop A Lot (or maybe not-I really don't know).  But if you are, don't worry all the fun, details will be coming starting tomorrow :)  I needed a couple days to catch up, sleep and get pictures taken.  So anyway I have a beautiful card that I wanted to share last week but couldn't because the person who I gave it to hadn't seen it.  She checks my blog so I wanted the first time she saw it to be in person.  But because it's oddly shaped, and really bumpy I knew it would take extra postage.  Well I didn't put on enough and it came back to me.  So it took longer than I thought to get to her but it finally did and I can share it!!!
This card is cased from one I saw on Pintrest.  I can't find it now (of course).  But I loved the idea of all the butterflies in a row.  For the center of each butterfly I used the brads that used to come in our colors (now we have the fabulous candy dots!!!).  The only reason I used the brads and not the candy dots was because the candy dots wouldn't stick to the glimmer paper.  So the brads just hold it all together.  Other than that there's no real tricks on this card.  Lots of punching but it's so pretty and so worth it!!!
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!!!

Flower Boxes

When demonstrators attend convention or other events it's usually tradition to make each other 'pillow gifts'.  Just small gifts for your roommates.  I figured the scrapbook weekend would be no different.  So these are my pillow gifts for my roommates.  We reserved a couple of suites so that we had plenty of room.  It was so much fun!!!
These adorable boxes are made from the Envelope Punch Board, one of THE BEST INVENTIONS EVER!  Once my gift was done I needed a sweet way to package them.  I suddenly remembered the adorable flower box that Sam from Pootles had made.  It was perfect!!! Make sure you check out Sam's blog for all the details on this sweet box.

I filled the box with shredded DSP (it's the retired newsprint one).  These boxes were so easy and quick to put together.  I just love them!!  I used the new Lullaby DSP and a few different colors of cardstock, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Canteloupe and Hello Honey.
Inside the boxes are a super cute key chain, with a charming rubber stamp on it!!!  The stamps on the key chain are made from our Simply Pressed Clay!!!  I LOVE THIS CLAY!!!!  I used Soft Suede and Early Espresso ink to dye the 'wood' part of the stamp, then I molded the clay into a rounded square.  The 'rubber' on the stamp is dyes with Rose Red ink.  The hearts were done with the new heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  I punch a heart from cardstock then used a small knife to carefully trace around the punched image.
Once both pieces were dried I used Crystal Effects to glue to them together.  The rest of the key chain is just some fun, pretty beads from a craft store with a Filigree Brad accent on the bottom.  If you've been around SU for a while you probably remember the filigree brads.  They retired a while ago but I LOVED them and stocked up on them when they were on the clearance rack a while back.     I love them!!!

Bye Bye!

I'm leaving, gone, see ya!  In just a few short hours, which I'm sure will wind so slowly and it will feel like eternity, plus the children will scream, argue and whine which will make it feel even longer than eternity, I'll be headed to Camp Crop-A-Lot!  It's the ever amazing scrapbook weekend that I'm so super excited to attend.  This is Michelle's first summer one (there will be another this fall!).  It's camping themed-CUTE!  By the way camping in a Marriott is MY KIND OF CAMPING!  These are 6 of the bags I'm taking, the pictures aren't great, they were taken with my phone-the camera is packed!
I have (hopefully) all I'll need to craft for a couple days :)  The front bag on the left is filled with ink :) The one right next to it is filled with about 50 pounds of cardstock (maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but it's a lot of cardstock!).  I have all the essentials, plus alot of non essentials.  I still have another bag that's has my laptop and other electronics....just in case I do some MDSing, hopefully I will, it is a scrapbooking weekend after all!  Plus I have my clothes and personal items.  It looks like I'm moving in for more than 48 hours.  I'll be posting updates on my business Facebook page and will have TONS to share in the upcoming weeks!  Can't wait!!!

Stamp Camp Work Of Art

Did you guess that this was our third set!!  I love this set.  LOVE IT!!!  It wasn't one of our first choices for stamp camp.  Amber wasn't sold on it, at first.  I'm glad she came around though!  This is my card.  It's similar to one I found on Pintrest.  I love the color getting lighter on the chevrons.  To achieve this look, keep stamping without reinking.  We used the Stamp a Ma Jig to line it up perfectly!  The little glitter on the heart is the perfect finishing touch!
Amber used the new Crumb Cake Notecards for her card and also the new sequins!  So pretty!!  So do you have a favorite card from the last six I've shared over the past 3 days??  If you're local make plans to attend our stamp camp next year!
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!

Stamp Camp Blended Bloom

Our second set that we chose to use was Blended Bloom.  Obviously this card begs to be colored, but we challenged ourselves to use this stamp without coloring it.  HUGE issue for me.  I struggled the most with this card.  I love it in the end but I went through about 4 cards before I did this one.  For mine, the flower was stamped in Staz On, then I used the large splatter from the Gorgeous Grunge set and stmaped it a couple times on the flower.  It fills it in with color nicely.  Finally they cut the flower out, yes I love fussy cutting!  Then the edges were sponged in the same Tangelo Twist ink to give it a more finished look.
I love Amber's card with this set.  It's so simple but so beautiful!!  The flower is embossed in white embossing powder, so is the greeting.  It's so pretty and elegant.  You could easily change the greeting to almost anything!  This would make a great card for a bridal shower, use the brides wedding colors.  Tomorrow is our last 2 cards any guesses on what set we chose to be our last set?????
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!!

Stamp Camp

I actually took pictures at stamp camp!!  Can you believe it?  It only took me 8 years to remember to use the camera that I bring every year!!  This is by far one of the biggest classes I do.  I work with my upline Amber.  Our new catalog stamp camp begins every year with our HUGE retired stamp set sale.  We had five 6 foot tables end to end.  We filled them all (this is only our stuff, just the two of us.....it's possible we have addiction problems....nothing a little stamping can't cure right!)
We line up all our stamp sets first then the accessories are on the end.  We do stamp camp at my church (I also hold all my classes there).  The sale is in our gallery, my church is blessed with massive space so thankfully we always have room!
People love to come shop our stamp sale!  It's a huge perk of stamp camp.  And who doesn't LOVE a deal?!!  We sell our stamps 50% off, some that have been retired a long time are discounted even further.  The sale opens first thing in the morning at 9am for our stamp camp attendees.  After they get first pick anyone else who wants to shop can come at 10.  There is ALWAYS stuff left over!
The doors to stamp camp open at 10am, everyone makes 6 cards.  Amber I and choose 3 new stamp sets to work with and we each make a card with each set. The cards are always different but it shows the versatility of each set. We love it!!  Again we're blessed with space here.  It's never crowded or packed.
We have 8 tables set up, 4 on each side.  Amber has one side of the room I have the other.  Everyone rotates tables.  Six of the tables have the projects on them the other two are extra tables for people to look through their catalog (they get a free one for attending!), or to place an order.  Big shots line the center of the room, and we have snacks at the front of the room.
There is MAJOR stamping that goes on at stamp camp.  This is one of Amber's stamps at the end of stamp camp.  Now I know that some of you might be cringing at the look of this set.  It doesn't bother me or Amber.  I think a stained stamped is a well used stamp, a well used stamp is a well loved stamp.
Now for some cards, one of the sets we chose was Something To Say.  We ALWAYS use new colors and accessories for this class.  Here's my card that I designed using the Something To Say set.  I love this new DSP, Moonlight.  The Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey are my favorites of the new In Colors.
Purely by coincidence, Amber used the exact same DSP and colors for her Something To Say card.  Both cards are different, but with the same color.  I used the White Notecards for mine and Amber's is the standard size card.  I have the rest of the cards to share over the next couple days, keep checking back!
Thanks for looking, see you soon!!!!
